Syracuse Basketball plays its 15th game of the year against Virginia Tech Tuesday evening. Inside The Loud House tells you how to watch and listen to the game.

Syracuse basketball played tough but ultimately lost a close one at home last game to Notre Dame.

The Orange had a lead multiple times in the final minutes but couldn’t hold on. The Orange must now turn their attention to the Hokies of Virginia Tech, who got absolutely trounced at Virginia last game. The Orange take on the Hokies late Tuesday night in the Carrier Dome.

Coming into this game Syracuse basketball is 8-6, while Virginia Tech is 10-4. Neither team is stellar this year and are average ACC teams rather than among the top class of the ACC as they have been in recent years.

Gone is coach Buzz Williams’ fast and physical play that really frustrated Syracuse over the years. However, the Hokies are still sneaky good and have the talent, like Syracuse to hang with anybody.

Both teams need this win to boost their possible NCAA resume, but I’d argue the Orange needs this win even more if they have any dreams of being a part of March Madness this year.

At this point, this Syracuse basketball squad just needs to add as many wins to the win column as they can because tougher teams like Duke, North Carolina, and Virginia are coming, and those will almost undoubtedly be losses considering this team’s youth. So the Orange are just going to have to find a way to win the games that are toss-ups and are winnable, and this game counts as one of those. Hopefully, the home crowd in the Carrier Dome can propel the Orange on to a big much-needed win.

So what should we expect?

Well for starters, we should expect a lot of threes made. The Hokies rank first in the ACC making 10.3 threes made a game, while the Orange rank second with 9.9 threes made a game, according to FOXSports.com. Virginia Tech also takes most of their shots from three (46% of their shots) and make them at one of the best clips in the nation: 37.9%, which ranks 25th overall nationally, according to Syracuse.com.

The Orange as we all know also likes to take a ton of threes: for better and worse. Whether it’s Elijah Hughes, Buddy Boeheim, or Joe Girard, the Orange will need to hit their outside shots to stay alive in this one.

What may be more important is how well the Orange can get the ball inside though for layups, put backs, and uncontested jump shots on the wings. If the Orange are successful they could win by double digits: a la Georgia Tech.

However, if the Orange are unsuccessful spreading out the ball and getting to the rim, then the offense will stall and they’ll hoist shots from the perimeter at a ridiculous rate. Whoever wins the shootout might end up winning the game.

Either way, this game should be close and should provide a nice test before the real tough ACC stretches to come. According to ESPN.com, they give the Orange a 63.5% chance of winning this game and expect the Orange to win by 4.5 points.
