20-30 years ago we had one of the fiercest rivalries in all of college basketball between Syracuse and Georgetown. Now years later we have a pair of bubble teams who are battling an array of issues.

Georgetown is suddenly missing several key players due to unforeseen circumstances. Despite that, the Hoyas have seemingly rallied around each other and have played even better basketball. Credit Patrick Ewing for keeping this team focused.

While the Orange were off to their worst start (4-4) EVER under Jim Boeheim, but after a thrilling and convincing win over Georgia Tech, it seems like we’ve forgotten about all Syracuse’s issues.

Really good three-point shooting can mask a lot of issues and perhaps if the Orange can keep that going they’ll be just fine. They certainly have the talent to be able to execute that.

Although the more sustainable offense on a consistent basis is in transition. Georgetown coughs up a ridiculous near 17 turnovers a game, they’re sloppy and undisciplined. If the 2-3 zone is firing on all cylinders, Syracuse should get a bunch of easy points and for an offense that was just struggling big time prior to the Georgia Tech game would be a welcomed delicacy.

Give me Syracuse 75-60 in a close first half game that blows open by the end.
