Syracuse Basketball: Game time, TV, Radio and more vs Georgetown
By Josh Peelman
Syracuse Basketball plays its 10th game of the season against Georgetown on Saturday afternoon. Inside The Loud House tells you what you need to know to be able to watch and listen to the game.
Syracuse basketball looked much improved in a blowout win versus Georgia Tech last week. The Orange went on the road and came out with an ACC win and a lot more confidence after a humbling three-game losing streak.
Syracuse must now turn their focus to another road contest this week: a trip to D.C. to take on rival Georgetown.
Sure, the Big East days when the Orange played the Hoyas twice a year in conference feels long in the past, but for those who lived through them, this game still is a rivalry.
The Hoyas still put up a good team consistently and will be a quality win should the Orange beat them. However, some years have passed and the tension of the previous years may not be what it once was. Considering how evenly matched these teams look on paper though this game could easily become a chippy affair towards the end and hence reinvigorate the rivalry.
Syracuse, when it is playing well offensively this year really, plays well, but when they’re off, they are really off.
This is a team that can beat a decent Bucknell and Georgia Tech team, but then also lose to Penn State and Oklahoma State. Georgetown, on the other hand, is going through a transition this year and has had multiple players leave the program for various reasons.
On one hand, they can get a win over a ranked Texas squad, then shortly after losing to UNC Greensboro. So which Georgetown and Syracuse teams will show up on Saturday?
In other words, this is a very winnable game for Syracuse, but it really depends on which team decides to show up. If they play as they did versus the Yellow Jackets it won’t be close, but if they shoot as they did versus Penn State they probably don’t have a chance.
This team can ill afford to fall back to 5-5 on the season, especially considering ACC conference play is only a few games away. Therefore, the Orange desperately need this win to stay afloat this season.
So what should we expect?
If all goes according to plan and this team brings their A-game and carries in the momentum from last game to D.C. then I think we’ll see huge games from Elijah Hughes and Buddy Boeheim.
In addition, if the combination of Joe Girard starting at point guard, and Howard Washington filling in relief goes as well as it did last game (with both racking up a lot of assists and moving the ball well) then this game could start to go the Orange’s way early in the second half.
If the Orange comes in and throws up a bunch of bricks though then the game could be over before it has started. Syracuse is relatively inexperienced and falling behind early might be hard for this year’s team to overcome.
The good news is that this year’s team never feels truly out of it because we all know the immense talent they have, and what they are capable of, and if they play up to their potential, then no deficit feels too tough to overcome.
