Syracuse – 71, Oklahoma State – 59

The Orange is red hot, after dropping nearly 100 points on an iffy Bucknell team. On the other side are the Cowboys, who come in 5-0, but like Syracuse, no wins against Power 5 Conference teams.  Regardless, this looks to be a good game and a key one, as the winner helps its resume.

I think Syracuse’s earlier game against Virginia will have them ready for this game. Oklahoma State has yet to play any good opponents, whereas the Orange started the season with now seventh-ranked Virginia. Simply put, Syracuse is slightly more battle-tested, which should help them in certain situations.

This contest is also at the Barclays Center, so Syracuse should have a fantastic crowd, most likely more than enough for home-court advantage. That too will bode well for an Orange team leaving the Carrier Dome for the first time all season.

The biggest threat the Cowboys have to offer is Lindy Waters III.

Waters is a solid guard who can score the ball and also pull down rebounds. However, he will need to make plays against a zone then has played well and created turnovers all season long.  Oklahoma State is a decent three-point shooting team and will need to make shots from downtown to stay in the game.

Syracuse saw it’s best three-point shooting outing of the season against Bucknell, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw something similar again. Elijah Hughes and Buddy Boeheim seem to be getting going, and if the Orange can get Marek Dolezaj in a groove, it would be great, as they will have a tougher test against either Ole Miss or Penn State on Friday.
