Syracuse Basketball plays its sixth game of the season against Oklahoma State on Wednesday night. Inside The Loud House gets you ready with what you need to know to be able to watch and listen to the game.
Syracuse basketball looked really good in their last showing, blasting Bucknell in the Carrier Dome by 51 points! Led by Elijah Hughes and Buddy Boeheim, the Orange looked competent and at times, almost unstoppable.
The Orange hope to bring some of that momentum now to Brooklyn as the Orange play in the NIT Season Tip-off at the Barclays Center versus Oklahoma State Wednesday night.
Oklahoma State comes into this game with a 5-0 record, but they also have only beaten inferior opponents. Of their five wins, they have been in three close games. The Cowboys barely beat Yale, Western Michigan, and Oral Roberts which makes you question whether they’re really that good this year.
Syracuse had had a soft schedule too but has played some teams with talent like Virginia, Colgate, Cornell, and Bucknell. The difference between Syracuse and Oklahoma State though is that Syracuse hasn’t had a game closer than 16 points (the win against Colgate, 70-54) other than the opening season loss to Virginia.
So what should we expect?
Well, both these teams are talented and have length at every position. The difference is that Syracuse had more scoring options. They can look to Joe Girard III, Buddy Boeheim, Elijah Hughes, or even Bourama Sidibe on any given night for points. Any one of those guys can just go off and blow the game wide open which really spaces or the floor for their teammates.
Syracuse also has a tremendous 2-3 zone defense which is really rounding into shape. We’ll see how they do against a tougher opponent though.
Oklahoma is led by guards Lindy Waters III and Isaac Likekele who both can score in a multitude of ways when the ball is in their hands. If Syracuse can key on these two and limits the gaps at the top of the zone and prevent lanes in which to drive to the basket, then they stand a good chance of winning this game.
