Syracuse Football takes on Louisville in their 11th game of the season Saturday afternoon on the road. Here’s how you can watch and listen to the game.

Syracuse football had a huge and must-needed win over Duke last week. The Orange stomped the Blue Devil’s on the road, 49-6! It was arguably the best showing Syracuse football has had in any game this season on both the offensive and defensive side of the football. The Orange must now look to Louisville who plays this coming Saturday afternoon once again on the road.

Syracuse football needs two wins in their final two games to clinch a bowl bid. The odds of that are long but not nearly as much as they were after the win last week. Both Louisville and Wake Forest have flaws and are beatable, it just depends on if the Orange can pull off the upsets.

Syracuse trounced Louisville last year at home in what was a down year for the Cardinals and a breakthrough year for the Orange. This year the roles look to be reversed, even though coming into the year each team had similar expectations to the year before.

Syracuse was thought to be a ranked team once again, and Louisville looked like it was bound to be an ACC cellar-dweller again. However, the script has been reversed and Louisville sits at 6-4 while Syracuse is 4-6, according to ESPN.com.

So how do these teams match up?

Total yards per gameSyracuse 378.4 yards, Louisville 437.9 yards

Points per gameSyracuse 26.6, Louisville 32.3

Points Allowed per gameSyracuse 28.2, Louisville 32.7

Yards Allowed per game: Syracuse 438.9 yards, Louisville 432.4 yards

Well, the good news is Syracuse, on average, allows less points per game than Louisville. In addition, they also allow just about the same amount of yards per game as well.

The bad news is the Orange still fewer points per game, and average about 50 less total yards per game. That is not good for a team trying to pull an upset on the road and keep their bowl hopes alive another week.

The bright side to all this is it shows these teams are very similar statistically, even if their records are opposites of each other. So we could have a more even matchup then we realize.

Syracuse looked like a much better team last week against Duke. Heck, I’d go as far as to say that it was the best the Orange looked all year on both sides of the ball. The offense still struggles at times, but if Airon Servais can continue his strong play at left tackle and Carlos Vettorello holds his ground well at center, the running game may continue to have huge holes to run through which really opens up the offense. The better the run game is the better the passing game (in theory) will be.
