Syracuse Basketball: Game time, TV, Radio and more vs Colgate
By Josh Peelman
The Syracuse basketball team plays their second game of the season against Colgate on Wednesday night. Inside The Loud House tells you what you need to know to be able to catch the game.
Syracuse basketball played dreadfully against Virginia at home in their season opener last Wednesday. Sure, fans and the team alike could blame Virginia’s excellent pack line defense (which is top 10 in the nation annually) or the fact that the Orange have a really young team this year for the bad performance, but that’d be making excuses.
Fact is: the team just shot bad, played worse, and ultimately had the worst offensive scoring performance in Jim Boeheim’s 44-year tenure. The Orange will need to bounce back in a big way and find a way to win when they play Colgate on Wednesday night.
Syracuse basketball coming into the season was highly touted for possessing a ton of great shooters this season, but against Virginia, the team as a whole played horrifically. The team shot 13-of-55 from the field: good for 23.6% and shot 5-of-29 from three which was good for 17.2%, according to ESPN.com. So yeah, not good.
To make matters worse, the Orange had to dwell on this opening season loss for a week before they play Colgate Wednesday. The good news is that the talent level should be much easier against Colgate than it was against ACC heavyweight Virginia.
Colgate has capable players but is nothing like what Syracuse saw against the Cavaliers. The Orange should play better overall as a team, be more ready, rested, and focused, and as a result, shoot better and pick up the win with much less drama.
So what should we expect?
Well for one, we should expect a Syracuse basketball team that is hungry and ready to go after a week of thinking how badly they played at home against the Cavs. This team should look sharp and hit a lot of shots on the way to a double-digit win.
We should also expect the freshmen to feel a lot more comfortable in front of the hometown crowd, especially after they got a few shots and get the crowd behind them. The Carrier Dome is a huge venue compared to a high school game so it does take some getting used to. I expect the nerves to settle down and the jitters to die down a bit and for the diaper dandies to look much better against the Raiders.
