Syracuse football is a broken record right now. The struggles are copied and pasted from the previous game into the next. The Orange once again failed to protect the quarterback and committing countless penalties.

Week 10 has Boston College on the slate in the Carrier Dome. The noon kickoff will be the second to last home game of the year. In 2018 SU was 6-0 at home but the same success has not continued in 2019. SU is 2-2 with both wins coming like their only one on the road, against a non-Power 5 team.

The Eagles will bring in another talented running back in AJ Dillon. Cam Akers in Week 9 ran all over the Orange with 145 yards and four touchdowns. Dillon is already over 1,000 yards on the season and one of four BC running backs averaging over five yards a carry, (min. 10 attempts). The Orange run defense will depend on every unit to stop Dillon and co.

What Boston College offers is a real test of the offensive line. This is not saying the Eagles pass rush is elite in any way. On the year BC has nine sacks and has allowed 2,388 passing yards and 20 passing touchdowns.

If there will be any game this year that the Orange keeps Tommy DeVito upright, it is this week. The first week without Ryan Alexander was not a great week but there have been worse performances this season. DeVito was sacked only six times, yeah *only* six times.

A good game against an anemic pass rush could start something to push towards 2020 these final four games of the season. DeVito has been under pressure more than you want a veteran quarterback, let alone a young inexperienced one.

2019 is now about the growth of DeVito and other pieces of the future. Syracuse is the favorite this week but I am not ready to pick them until they prove me wrong.

Boston College 27 Syracuse 20.
