The Syracuse basketball team plays their second exhibition game of the season against Carleton on Tuesday. Inside The Loud House gets you ready with what you need to know to be able to watch and listen to the game.
Syracuse basketball season is officially underway and has one more game to play before the 2019-20 season commences.
In their last exhibition game the Orange beat Division II Daemen on Saturday night 90-71. The Orange played well as a team but made a lot of turnovers, which is not unusual going into the season as this team of young guys learns to work with each other. Their next opponent who they play Tuesday night: Canadian Powerhouse Carleton, will not be as easy.
Normally, the Orange likes to schedule light easy cupcake games going into the season in exhibition games, but this year the approach was a bit different. Sure you’ve probably never heard of Daemen unless you’re local, but they have a decent ball club.
In fact, they were an NCAA Tournament team last year in Division II which means they’re not too shabby. You could tell last game their athletes were undersized compared to ‘Cuse’s, but they still played even (in terms of scoring) with Syracuse the entire second half, according to Cuse.com.
So what should we expect?
Carleton on the other hand maybe even more of a challenge than Daemen was. They are a Canadian team that is very talented. They are coming off their 14th national title after a win over Calgary last year, according to Syracuse.com. Think of them as a Division I team, but from Canada.
The Orange barely beat Carleton the last time it came to the ‘Dome in 2014, winning by only eight: 76-68, according to Cuse.com. The Orange, in that game, trailed by nine at the break! That season ended up being a lost one (18-13) for the Orange as they end up forfeiting the postseason due to NCAA sanctions and well as self-imposed ones, according to Orangehoops.org.
The year before that in 2013, when Syracuse basketball had Tyler Ennis, Jerami Grant, CJ Fair and Co. (and would go on to win 25 straight regular-season games) the Orange also faced Carleton that summer. The Orange played at Carleton on their Canadian tour in August and barely came out with a victory, winning 69-65 in overtime, according to Syracuse.com.
In that game, Syracuse trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half! Just as a reminder, Syracuse had maybe their best overall team of all-time in that game and barely won on the road!
In other words, this team is no slouch and should be a worthy opponent to get Syracuse ready for the season. That’s especially good news to hear when considering they open the season up at home with a difficult ACC matchup with No. 11 Virginia.
So how can I watch or listen to the game?
The game will be shown on Tuesday, November 29th at 8:00 p.m. on ACC Network Extra (on the WatchESPN app), so you will need a cable subscription with ACC Network included to watch the game, according to Syracuse.com.
