Prediction: Syracuse beats Holy Cross 56-10.

This one should be smooth sailing for the Orange from the get-go. After beating a pretty good offensive team at home, Western Michigan, last week the Orange get a 1-2 FCS team that was pounded by Yale last week.

This one could be over in the first quarter. Look for the Orange to use this game as a tune-up with live reps to improve things that they have struggled with in recent weeks. This includes timing between Tommy DeVito and his receiving corps, finding what combination that works best on the offensive line, and improving the knuckleheaded mistakes the secondary and linebackers have made this season.

The Orange go into a bye week after this game before starting ACC play, so this week’s game is crucial to preparing the Orange for what comes ahead. If they can stay focused on improvements rather than on how bad their opponent is, then maybe, just maybe they’ll get something out of this week other than a 3-2 overall record and a big win that they were expected to win easily anyways.

In terms of a star in this game, I expect Sean Riley to have one of his best games of the season. He thrives on stages like this where the other team is very outmatched. So expect a good day on punt returns as week as catching the football on offense from him this week. Hopefully, this game is not close, because it really shouldn’t be. Orange win big at home. Let’s go Orange!
