1. Dino Babers

In the 21st century, Syracuse football has experienced a slew of head coaching options. Paul Pasqualoni was at the backend of his career. Greg Robinson was awful. Doug Marrone was mediocre. Scott Shafer was a Marrone stooge.

It didn’t inspire much confidence, but guess who did? Dino Babers.

Since the very beginning, his messages have hit home. But an important part of motivators they can’t just talk the talk, they also have to walk the walk.

I often reference Rex Ryan, former New York Jets head coach as a good example. He brought an instant injection of life to the Jets fan base when he came in over a decade ago. He had bluster, but the team won so it all worked.  As soon as the team stopped winning, his act got tired and he was eventually fired.

So back to Babers, he talked about how long it would take until we saw signs. He accurately predicted that and heck it even came a season early in 2018.

Dino said they would make a mark, they have with multiple top-25 wins since he took over the program including taking out the Clemson Tigers two years ago.

Babers has in its simplest form made the Orange relevant:

  • National ranking.
  • Double-digit win season.
  • Big time wins.
  • Bowl win and berth.

In other words, this is an article that is meant to provide the top five reasons that hope still exists and there’s none bigger than Dino Babers.

He has brought hope back in droves to this community and that can’t be understated. He’s going to right this ship and rally the troops for the rest of the season.

But beyond all the vernacular Dino can and will spit it out, he needs to also turn around his offense. One of the main reasons why Syracuse hired Dino beyond the bravado, is his offensive wizardry.

The mantra ‘Orange is the New Fast’ is sexy and has sold a lot of t-shirts, but now it’s time for production on the football field. Something has been missing from this offense through the first quarter of the season and Dino has to fix it if the Orange are going to turn it around. But if anyone can do it, it’s Dino.
