2. This team is talented.

It’d be one thing if the Orange were 1-2 and their talent sucked. There would be things beyond the team’s control to point at and complain about, but that’s not the case at Syracuse.

The Orange have talent on offense, defense, and special teams.

Defensively Syracuse has arguably the best pair of pass rushers in the entire country in Kendall Coleman and Alton Robinson. The secondary is loaded with playmakers from Andre Cisco and Evan foster at the safety spot. Chris Fredrick, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Scoop Bradshaw, Antwan Cordy, we can go on and on.

While the linebackers are the perceived weakness of this unit, Lakiem Williams has been a budding star as a senior first-year starter with the Orange in 2019.

There’s no hiding it, the offense has been lackluster. Playcalling has been predictable. The offensive line has been holy and I’m not talking about in the religious sense. No consistent running game. Tommy DeVito has struggled with decision making and escapability once he gets out of the pocket.

But all of those problems are correctable.

If the offensive line is struggling, Syracuse can keep running backs and tight ends in as extra blockers to help out. DeVito will get better with experience. Playcalling can’t get much worse.

The talent is there, it’s just about executing.
