Ah, 1-0, undefeated, things are exciting and the Orange delivered. Was it sexy? No. But it doesn’t matter, it’s all about getting those wins.

Maryland is the next opponent on the docket. They also are 1-0 after a 79-0 thumping of Howard. Was it sexy? Yes. Does it matter? Heck no.

Now, these two squads square off in an all-important Week 2 matchup.

Syracuse must avoid looking ahead to Clemson because Maryland is a worthy foe. The No. 1 key is stopping the run for the Terps. They have five quality running backs that can all do damage.

The good news is Syracuse held Liberty to a grand total of -4 yards rushing. While the level of competition has to be considered, it’s more so the principle: the Orange defense is REALLY good, so it’ll be a battle of strengths on Saturday.

This will be a tight contest, but ultimately the Orange are focused and will find a way to make enough plays to carry them to victory.

Syracuse wins 31-24.
