Syracuse – 52, Liberty – 24

First off, Syracuse is a 17 point favorite, which to me is ridiculous. The Orange will cover that, no doubt in my mind.

Given that, this ‘Cuse team needs to play smart to beat Liberty. It’s a Flames team that is coming off a 6-6 season, adds former Ole Miss Head Coach in Hugh Freeze, as well as former Auburn QB Malik Willis. Oh, and the game is also AT Liberty, which means that this game has ‘TRAP!’ written all over it.

I could see this game being close for the first quarter and a half, but ‘Cuse and Dino Babers will be able to use their speed and strength to outmatch the Flames and begin to pull away.

I also expect the ‘Cuse running game to have a big impact. They have speed, strength, and toughness between Moe Neal, Abdul Adams, Jarveon Howard, and Chris Elmore – with the ability to wear teams out between these four guys.

Ultimately, it’s a trap game, but the Orange probably know this considering the media has called it such for the past month. A close game at first, but Syracuse prevails late and easily takes game one.
