Syracuse enters this 2019 season with expectations higher than I can ever remember, and for valid reasons. Despite losing their quarterback Eric Dungey, Syracuse brings back a bunch of great players from last season from a team that was picked to finish last in the ACC Atlantic.

Alton Robinson and Andre Cisco will lead a defense that should be very solid, and new QB Tommy DeVito will make Syracuse’s passing offense more efficient and threatening compared to last season. The big concern for the Orange should be that if DeVito goes down, the season is over.

When looking at their whole schedule, it’s not farfetched to say that Syracuse could win every game. They get Clemson at home in what will be a game where the crowd will be louder than ever. They travel to Tallahassee to play Florida State where it looks like it could be a down year for the Seminoles. As for the rivals, Boston College and Pittsburgh have to come to the Loud House this year, which is big.

Despite a favorable schedule, Syracuse will not run the table. One thing that concerns me is that I feel like Syracuse may be too obsessed with beating Clemson this year. A loss to the defending champs could be a huge gut punch to this team. The question is how will Syracuse respond if that happens? Syracuse may be the better team in all their games except one this year, but a loss to Clemson may take some juice out of the Orange.

With that being said, let me explain how I see this season going. I like Syracuse starting off 2-0 when Clemson comes to town on September 14. I think Clemson will beat the Orange because after what happened last year, Clemson will bring their A-game.

After that, Syracuse will win four straight. Western Michigan and Holy Cross will be easy wins, and I see the Orange barely getting by a tough road game with NC State. Syracuse will then beat Pittsburgh after their bye week, but I think they lose to Florida State on the road. After that, I see Syracuse running the table to finish the year, and will finish the year 10-2. So no College Football Playoff for the Orange, but maybe the Orange Bowl!

Final Prediction 10-2 (6-2).
