Fifth Pick, “Team Ryan”: Hakim Warrick

Okay, I can score, pass, and rebound so far on my squad now let’s add some defense. No one better than the author of “The Block,” to come aboard.

Warrick holds one of the most iconic plays in Syracuse history with his block of Michael Lee’s shot. Warrick also brings next level athleticism to the team as well and will be a nightmare on the break. Forcing any team to run with him and Douglas down the court.

Also what rebounds will my team not get with Warrick, Coleman, and Anthony? Coleman and Anthony finished their careers’ with double-digit rebound numbers. While Warrick finished fourth all-time in team history. Warrick will round out my starters but I still have my eyes on one swiss army knife that will put my unstoppable squad over-the-top. –Ryan.

Fifth Pick, “Team Paul”: Gerry McNamara

Now technically position wise I should’ve tried to fill the hole at forward, but the intrigue of G-Mac was too much to pass up.

He’s one of the most exhilarating players in history who is one of the best 3-point shooters we’ve ever seen. If I need clutch shooting from deep, G-Mac will deliver that in spades.

He also provides leadership, currently, he’s a coach on Jim Boeheim’s staff. So I’m getting a little bit of everything on this team. I can either play small ball or use Gerry as my utility player off the bench. Love the versatility of the lineup and having possibilities depending on how the game is going.

Also, we haven’t really talked about this much, but Gerry is a phenomenal free throw maker. In case you forgot free throws matter. G-Mac averaged 89 percent per clip from the charity stripe. The 2006 Big East run is the stuff of legends. –Paul.
