To decide the first pick Paul and I went with the old school flip-a-coin method and by the virtue of it coming up heads, I won the first overall pick and was on the clock…

First Pick, “Team Ryan”: Carmelo Anthony

Syracuse has dozens of quality stars to select from but the face of their only national title is my easy choice at number one. A guy in his only season scored 22 and 10 while being a threat inside and out will give my team matchup nightmares to anyone Paul selects. When I think of Carmelo all I can think of is his best performance for SU in the Final Four against Texas cooking Royal Ivey when Anthony cashed 12 of his 19 shots including a trio of three-point field goals to go with his 14 rebounds. Expect Anthony to be the most dominant player in any game but if he is my team’s only scorer other teams will swarm him. Adding a second option would be useful going forward. –Ryan

First Pick, “Team Paul”: Pearl Washington

At the top of any Syracuse fan’s big board was Carmelo Anthony, darn you, Ryan. With Melo off the board, I pick one of the biggest legends in SU history: Pearl Washington. Dwayne Alonzo “Pearl” Washington has everything you look for in a player: flashy, talented, and the master of the shake and bake. I wanted to pick a player that could lead my team and Pearl jumped off the board. His range and clutch ability will come in handy early and often. Also if I ever need a half court buzzer beater, I know who to rely on. — Paul.
