Experts are straight up disrespecting the Syracuse football vs Clemson matchup in Week 3. Here’s what they said and why they’re dead wrong.

Syracuse football vs Clemson in Week 3 of the 2019 season is already building a ton of hype and we’re still in the Summer.

From homecoming to Tim Green’s jersey retirement to it being the ACC and home opener for the Orange, this party is going to be lit. On top of all of that, Syracuse vs Clemson will also be in primetime.

Although one thing that experts don’t believe is happening is College GameDay. Now the basketball version of the show has come to the Carrier Dome on a few different occasions, but the football version has never stepped foot on campus.

Many fans were hoping that the upcoming Tigers vs Orange matchup would be tantalizing enough to draw in the national College GameDay experience for the first time ever, although Brad Crawford of 247 Sports feels differently:

"“For a show that’s rarely scripted, there’s no set plan for locations every fall, something that adds to the excitement a bit, GameDay senior coordinating producer Lee Fitting once said. GameDay rarely passes on an opportunity to broadcast from the weekend’s most sizable matchup and we’ve peeked at the 2019 slate hoping to determine where the traveling road show may set up shop next.”WEEK 3: OKLAHOMA AT UCLAWhy this is a good option for GameDay: There’s not a ton of quality games to savor in Week 3, but if Chip Kelly’s Bruins come out of the gates 2-0, here’s a tilt that falls right into GameDay’s lap out West. How bad would Kelly like to have Jalen Hurts running his offense right now? Other possibilities include Pittsburgh at Penn State and UCF’s home battle vs. Stanford. Do viewers still care about the Knights after their nation-leading winning streak was snapped by LSU? GameDay did seem to enjoy its first trip to Orlando last season.”"

Excuse me?

There are two points I would immediately like to question from the 247 Sports argument:

  • If the senior coordinating producer’s words are taken verbatim, “GameDay rarely passes on an opportunity to broadcast from the weekend’s most sizable matchup” then how in the flying hell is Syracuse Clemson not that matchup in Week 3?
    • To get a full analysis of every intriguing matchup on the Week 3 calendar that College GameDay has to choose from we did a breakdown here.
  • “There’s not a ton of quality games to savor in Week 3”, again I ask, how is Syracuse vs Clemson not at the top of that list? Over the last two years, the games have been instant classics that were decided in the waning moments.
  • But it’s more than just the past, it’s the present and future. This is the biggest game of the season for both squads. This matchup could very well decide the ACC Atlantic.

If College GameDay doesn’t come for the Week 3 matchup between these two ACC squads, then when will they ever come to Syracuse?
