If the NCAA football video game is returning which Syracuse football player would you want on the cover? Here are the results of the fan vote.

We finally seem to have some trending optimism that the NCAA football video game is making a return. For all the latest details on this development click here.

With that being said it seems like it’s only a matter of *when* not *if* this game is going to come together. So it got us thinking, what Syracuse football player would we like to see on the cover? So we asked the fans.

To get as fair of a field as possible we had two separate voting polls: one on Facebook and one on Twitter.

The Facebook poll allowed fans to vote for one of the pre-selected players (Tommy DeVito, Andre Szmyt, Andre Cisco, or Kendall Coleman) and also even add their own vote suggestions to the list.

The additional names that were added by the fans for consideration include: Alton Robinson, Moe Neal, Lakiem Williams, and Trishton Jackson.

  1. Tommy DeVito finished with over 60 votes.
  2. Andre Cisco finished with over 50 votes.
  3. Andre Szmyt finished with over 30 votes.

All the other finalists finished with under 15 votes each.

We also posed the same question on Twitter to gauge those fans and received similar results:

Now that all the votes have been revealed here are some thoughts:

  • Tommy DeVito is the obvious choice. He’s a quarterback (which is the game’s most important position) and there is a lot of hype around him as a prospect. I won’t shame that choice.
  • If we had to guess who’d be No. 2 it would’ve been Andre Cisco. If Tommy is the promised child on offense, Cisco is the yang to that yin on defense.
  • Although the guy who should’ve won this is Andre Szmyt. He rose from the ashes with zero expectations heading into the season and won the MVP award for kickers (Lou Groza Award) in his freshman season.
  • The pair of senior defensive ends (Kendall, Alton) are going to have a special year, you can’t go wrong with either. I think they stole votes from each other for this prestigious award.
  • Linebacker will be a spot to watch and over the years Dino Babers has preferred experience at the position which bodes well for Lakiem Williams exploding on the scene in 2019.

  •  Finally, the two offensive guys who received votes in Trishton Jackson, Abdul Adams. Both are linked at the hip by their pathways to Syracuse (transfer market). There are huge expectations based on their previous schools (Michigan State and Oklahoma respectively).
    • Wide receivers have always put up video game numbers (Jackson has a good chance to continue that trend). While Adams will have to break through some recent poor history at Syracuse (SU hasn’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2012 with Jerome Smith).
