MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS. C+. . Guard. Orlando Magic

It was an interesting season for MCW.

Carter-Williams started the season alongside Melo on the Houston Rockets. In fact, he also had some bright moments, but it just didn’t pan out as he had hoped for. Michael averaged 4.3 points per contest and dished out 1.3 assists per game, averaging nine minutes of action.

Perhaps MCW’s brightest moments of the season came in a game on December 19th, in which Carter-Williams drilled a three-pointer – the 26th of the game for Houston – breaking an NBA record for three-pointers in a single game.

Unfortunately, Houston didn’t want to go much further with the six-year vet, as they traded him to the Chicago Bulls in early January, who immediately waived him.

Plot twist – his season didn’t end there!

Just two months later, the Orlando Magic decided to give the 6-foot-6 point guard another try. They signed Michael to a 10-day contract, and then, on the day in which he re-signed for another 10-day agreement, MCW went off for a season-high 15 points against Philadelphia. Just a few weeks later, Orlando decided he was worth it, signing him for the rest of the season and now into the Magic’s playoff run.

He’s made the most of his time in Orlando as well, averaging 5.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 4.0 APG in just under 20 minutes of action each contest. In doing so, Carter-Williams has topped pretty much every offensive statistic he put up in Houston, perhaps proving that he can still be an asset off the bench for a playoff team.

Overall, it wasn’t the start of the season Michael wanted, but he’s stuck with it, and now has a chance to show his worth on the big stage – the NBA Playoffs.

C+ grade for MCW, but definitely could rise up to a B with a good playoff showing.
