Syracuse Basketball is in the NCAA Tournament as a No. 8 seed. Their first opponent: No. 9 seed Baylor. Inside the Loud House lets, you know how to watch and listen.

Syracuse basketball played valiantly without Tyus Battle in the ACC Tournament. After a close, but expected loss to eventual ACC champion Duke, the Orange were selected as a No. 8 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament. Their opponent: No. 9 seed Baylor out of the Big 12. The two will face off Thursday night in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Unfortunately for the Orange, they will have to play without senior guard Frank Howard who was suspended indefinitely and will most like miss the entire NCAA Tournament. The Orange will now have to rely on Tyus Battle and probably backup point guard Jalen Carey to carry the ball handling duties for the Orange.

The Orange even without Howard are a pretty good team with loads of talent and should be a handful for the Bears. Baylor like Syracuse likes to play zone defense which should make this a low scoring game. The Bears run their offense through their guards so the Orange will need to play tight on the perimeter forcing long threes which hopefully the Bears will miss early and often.

The Bears who already play zone know the best way to beat the zone is get the ball into the middle of the paint for either a mid range jump shot or a kick out to the perimeter for a three or along the baseline for an easy cut to the basket. The Orange will need center Paschal Chukwu to step up and meet these guards in the high paint area and block shots without fouling so the Bears become intimidated and fear going in the paint against a seven-foot shot blocker. If the Orange can play tight on the perimeter, limit driving lanes and block shots/rebound against a good rebounding team, then the Orange have a good chance of advancing.
