Syracuse Basketball had a huge win over Pitt last night in the ACC Tournament. Up next: Duke in the Quarterfinals. Inside the Loud House tells you how you can watch and listen.

Syracuse basketball didn’t have Tyus Battle due to injury for the game against Pittsburgh in their first ACC tournament matchup Wednesday night in Charlotte. They didn’t have the lead at the break against a team they should. They looked out of sorts and unmotivated for the most part to start the game. Then the second half started, and the Orange not only took the lead back from down six, but they also went on to beat the Panthers by 14, 73-59! Their reward for getting past all those obstacles: a matchup with No. 5 Duke in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal Thursday night in Charlotte.

Normally a matchup between these two elite programs sounds like a game you would want to see. However, without Battle playing for Syracuse the odds look a bit stacked against the Orange so this game may not be nearly as close as previous matchups have been. The Duke Blue Devils still have plenty of other talented players they can turn to outside of future NBA lottery pick RJ Barrett that could blow away the Orange.

That’s not to say Syracuse doesn’t boast good talent as well; they do, but their one weakness is that this Orange team can’t score in bunches. Unfortunately for Syracuse, that’s something Duke seems to do with ease no matter who goes out there for the Blue Devils.

Upon hearing the news about Battle I’m sure many Orange fans thought this team was doomed to lose to Pittsburgh, and for one half they were right. It did look like Syracuse basketball was doomed to lose. What they weren’t expecting was how resilient Syracuse was and how they bounced back in a huge way.

Going into a matchup against a Top 5 program like Duke, some may feel like there isn’t hope, but there is. The Orange played excellent defense out of the break against Pitt in the second half. If the Orange can keep Duke close into the second half and then show them that same defensive intensity that disrupted Pittsburgh, then the Orange do stand a chance.

The Orange win with their defense this year. It’s common knowledge. They will need to make Duke play their style and pace. That means slow half-court basketball with a score in the mid-’50s and ’60s. If the Orange can do that and get either Buddy Boeheim, Elijah Hughes or Oshae Brissett to have another big night, then the Orange may be looking at a second Duke upset to add to their resume.

So will the game be televised? Well, I’m glad to say that, yes, the game will be nationally televised Thursday, March 14th on ESPN at 9:00 p.m. ET, according to ESPN.com.
