Former Syracuse football wideout Jamal Custis is vying to be selected in the 2019 NFL Draft. Here are his profile and draft stock update via TDN.

Former Syracuse football wide receiver Jamal Custis is hoping his NFL dreams are realized in late April in Nashville for the 2019 NFL Draft. But what are the chances that’ll happen? I’m glad you asked.

Time to break the fourth wall here on how I find my information. When I try to find out what is the draft stock of insert player I reach out to my sources with NFL teams, NFL Draft insiders, and do some research.

Well in 2019 there is a brand new and effective way for ANYONE to find out the draft stock of any player. That is called the “Mock Draft Machine”. It’s a brand new draft engine that was created on The Draft Network website. You can run simulated NFL Mock Drafts to find out who your NFL team would select or in my case where a player is routinely being selected.

But because no mock draft is the same, I wanted a good sample size. I ran the “Mock Draft Machine” 50 times to get a good feel of Custis’ NFL Draft stock heading into his Syracuse Pro Day on Monday, March 18th.

There are two different setting options that are available before you start the “Mock Draft Machine”: The Draft Network’s predictive board or The Draft Network’s player rankings. We did 25 simulations on each, here is what we discovered:

In 25 simulations I used TDN’s Predictive Board:

  1. 245th overall, New York Giants
  2. 246th overall, New England Patriots
  3. 246th overall, Patriots
  4. 254th overall, Arizona Cardinals
  5. 252nd overall, Patriots
  6. 246th overall, Patriots
  7. 246th overall, Patriots
  8. 254th overall, Cardinals
  9. 245th overall, Giants
  10. 246th overall, Patriots
  11. 245th overall, Giants
  12. 245th overall, Giants
  13. 252nd overall, Patriots
  14. 246th overall, Patriots
  15. 246th overall, Patriots
  16. 246th overall, Patriots
  17. 245th overall, Giants
  18. 252nd overall, Patriots
  19. 241st overall, Dallas Cowboys
  20. 254th overall, Cardinals
  21. 246th overall, Patriots
  22. 252nd overall, Patriots
  23. 241st, Cowboys
  24. 252nd, Patriots
  25. 246th overall, Patriots

In the other 25 simulations I used TDN’s Player Rankings:

  1. 245th overall, New York Giants
  2. 216th overall, Kansas City Chiefs
  3. 246th overall, New England Patriots
  4. 254th overall, Arizona Cardinals
  5. 245th overall, Giants
  6. 246th overall, Patriots
  7. 246th overall, Patriots
  8. 246th overall, Patriots
  9. 246th overall, Patriots
  10. 245th overall, Giants
  11. 252nd overall, Patriots
  12. 245th overall, Giants
  13. 246th overall, Patriots
  14. 246th overall, Patriots
  15. 245th overall, Giants
  16. 241st overall, Dallas Cowboys
  17. Undrafted
  18. 245th overall, Giants
  19. 245th overall, Giants
  20. 246th overall, Patriots
  21. 246th overall, Patriots
  22. 246th overall, Patriots
  23. 214th overall, Chiefs
  24. 246th overall, Patriots
  25. 252nd overall, Patriots

So some interesting takeaways here:

  • In every simulation (outside of once) Jamal Custis was drafted, so that’s a major plus regardless of where he ended up being selected. But a few times in the simulation he was “Mr. Irrelevant” which is the moniker given to the last player selected each year in the NFL Draft.
  • In the 50 simulations Custis was mocked to five different teams:
    • New England Patriots (29 times)
    • New York Giants (13 times)
    • Arizona Cardinals (four times)
    • Dallas Cowboys (three times)
    • Kansas City Chiefs (two times)

  • One of the major reasons for doing this exercise is to understand what is Jamal Custis’ NFL Draft stock. In the 50 draft simulations, he went as high as 214th overall to the Kansas City Chiefs and he went as low as undrafted (which occurred once). In other words, he’s projected as a seventh-round pick to priority free agent per The Draft Network.
