Former Syracuse football wide receiver Jamal Custis is heading to the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. Here’s his exclusive statement on this opportunity.

It’s official former Syracuse football star wideout Jamal Custis will be participating in the annual NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Custis received his invite a little over a month ago, per his representation. The 2019 combine will start Tuesday February 26th and will go through March 4th.

If you’d like to follow along there will be wall-to-wall coverage on NFL Network covering every second of the testing experience. Here’s when Custis will be participating with the other wide receivers:

  • February 27th: Travel, registration, medical testing, orientation, and interviews with teams.
  • February 28th: Measurements, more medical examinations, overflowing testing.
  • March 1st: Psychological testing, NFLPA meeting, media opportunities, bench press, and interviews.
  • March 2nd: On field workouts (timing, stations, skill drills), departure from Indianapolis.

Sean Stellato, Jamal Custis’ representation, sent me this statement on his client ahead of the annual NFL Scouting Combine on February 26th:

"“Excited for SES client Jamal Custis to receive the invite. It is much deserved. Great opportunity for him to showcase his skills among the best players in this year’s draft. He is looking forward to building off his strong performance at the East-West Shrine game and showing he is a complete wide receiver with excellent special teams ability.”"

Speaking of the Shrine game, Custis hauled in four receptions for 55 yards, but the best moment of the game came on a third and three play where Custis displayed his physicality (video below). If you’d like a full recap (highs and lows) of Jamal’s performance you check out the play-by-play breakdown (with video) here.

Speaking to several NFL Draft insiders after the game, Custis put himself into the “top 100” pick conversation with his performance, but to secure his place, he needs to run a good 40 yard dash time, one of many events that could separate Custis from the rest of the wide receivers in the 2019 NFL Draft class.

That target time for Jamal is “4.55” or better according to one scout I spoke with. After Custis’ performance in the Shrine game he seemed very confident in his ability to smoke that time at the combine, you can check out our full interview below.

Ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft, Custis has a few more opportunities to increase his NFL Draft stock. The Syracuse football pro day will be this March (I confirmed with a member of the University) and then Custis can work out individually for NFL teams all the way leading up to the draft.
