The Syracuse Basketball team plays their 21st game of the season against Boston College on the road Wednesday evening. Inside The Loud House tells you how you can catch the game.
Syracuse basketball was riding a three game-winning streak coming into last Saturday evening’s contest against No. 10 Virginia Tech. However, that streak was snapped by the hot shooting Hokies in Blacksburg, 78-56, according to ESPN.com. The Orange looked befuddled at times on offense and were sloppy all around due to excellent on-ball pressure by Virginia Tech. The Orange will look to right the ship when they visit Boston College Wednesday night.
Syracuse has not done well when they have played at Boston College in years past. In fact, the last two times the Orange played them on the road they have been solidly beaten by the Eagles. Last year the Orange lost 70-85 when they visited Silvio Conte Forum, and the year before they lost 81-96.
The Orange have dominated the all-time series though 48-25, and are 7-3 against BC since they joined the ACC, according to Orangehoops.org. So there is some brightness at the end of the tunnel here.
The Eagles are ACC cellar dwellers once again this year and the Orange can hopefully take advantage of that. The Eagles boast an 11-7 record overall and are 2-4 in ACC play so far this season. Their one bright spot has been star guard Ky Bowman who has been playing lights out.
Bowman is averaging 20.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, according to ESPN.com. Those numbers don’t even tell the story of how he is the life, blood and soul of this team and spurs them on to close games and (sometimes) victories. Just over a week ago he had a 37 point, nine rebound, and three assist night in a win over #11 Florida State at home, 87-82.He is a talented guard the Orange cannot ignore if they want to get a victory on the road Wednesday night.
This Boston College Eagles team may not be a very good team on paper but they have heart. They play scrappy, physical defense and make teams earn victories. They are no cupcake game and the Orange must make sure they do their homework and not take this team lightly.
The rewards of winning against BC aren’t a lot, but a 15-6 record and 6-2 conference record for the Orange sounds a whole heck of a lot better than 14-7 and 5-3 in ACC play. The Orange have to play better than they did against Virginia Tech if they want to make the NCAA tournament, so let’s hope they find a way to pull out a gritty win on the road.
