Prediction: Syracuse wins 64-58

The Syracuse basketball squad, currently possessing a four-game winning streak, returns to action on Saturday night, when the Orange hosts Georgia Tech from the Carrier Dome. SU (11-4, 2-0) looked a bit sluggish its last time out, but the ‘Cuse managed to collect an eight-point home victory versus Clemson on Wednesday evening to remain unbeaten in Atlantic Coast Conference competition.

The Yellow Jackets (9-6, 1-1), meanwhile, also most recently suited up on Wednesday. Georgia Tech, playing at home in Atlanta, performed admirably against No. 9 Virginia Tech, but the Yellow Jackets fell just short, losing to the Hokies by a final mark of 52-49.

So far in the 2018-19 campaign, both Syracuse and Georgia Tech are faring well on defense, while each unit struggles a bit scoring the ball. Neither group is particularly great from a shooting standpoint, and I think that SU’s best opportunity to defeat the Yellow Jackets lies in its ability to crash the boards with efficiency, and secure easy baskets in transition through the creation of turnovers.

ESPN2 is televising this ACC battle, and ESPN.com’s match-up predictor says that the Orange has an 85.3 percent chance to triumph. While I believe that Georgia Tech will prove challenging to the ‘Cuse, due to the Yellow Jackets’ solid defense, ultimately SU will get the job done. Syracuse conquers Georgia Tech, 64-58.
