The Syracuse basketball squad opens up conference play on the road vs the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Here’s how we think it’ll play out.

The Syracuse basketball team went 9-4 during nonconference play. The Orange lost twice in New York City to Oregon and UConn, won five in a row, then suffered back-to-back losses to Old Dominion and Buffalo.

As noted earlier this week, this is the fourth time under Jim Boeheim that his team has lost four or more regular season nonconference games. In the prior three instances, Syracuse has not made the NCAA tournament, here’s a historical look at those seasons (what went wrong and how Syracuse can change history).

While Notre Dame has faced some adversity as well this season. They lost one of their bright stars in Rex Pflueger for the season two weeks ago and have a strange loss to Radford on their resume. The Irish have already played a game in conference, a 15 point loss to Virginia Tech earlier this week.

With all of that being said, this is an important game for both squads who have a lot to prove this season. So how will this game play out? Our expert panel shared their thoughts on this pivotal ACC clash.
