Prediction: Syracuse wins 55-44

From everything I’ve learned about Old Dominion, they pride themselves on defense. The same can be said for this Syracuse team. Syracuse only allows 62 points per game, while the Monarchs are a bit more stout allowing 57 points per game.

This is going to be a defensive slug fest. The Monarchs struggle to get the ball in the cup and while Syracuse has the potential to drop a ton of points offensively, they haven’t always lived up to that this season.

Why is that?

Frank Howard. He’s battled injuries since the offseason (prior to that we heard he was looking fantastic) and he hasn’t been able to get his sea legs under him just yet. That’s obviously affected this Orange squad.

The good thing is Howard is back in terms of facilitating, Syracuse’s offense is moving and grooving when he can get the ball to the right guy. But to unlock the ultimate potential of this team Howard has to be able to attack the basket, he did that in spurts in the Georgetown game but he has to be more consistent for Syracuse to get where they want to get too. This past week off will get Frank Howard going again.
