The Syracuse basketball team plays their eighth game of the season against an unfamiliar opponent in Northeastern on Tuesday evening. Inside The Loud House let’s you know where to watch and listen.

Syracuse Basketball struggled on Saturday putting away a scrappy and talented Cornell team Saturday evening. The Orange eventually pulled it out in the end and won a close one, but not without making us sweat it first.

The Orange relied mostly on two scorers the entire game: Tyus Battle and Oshae Brissett. That can’t happen going forward, especially with a capable team in the Northeastern Huskies coming up next on the slate.

Syracuse Basketball will look to turn the page against a Northeastern team that knows they can beat decent teams. This year the Huskies already have wins over Eastern Michigan, Bucknell and Alabama. They also score 73.5 points a game, which is almost two points more than the Orange.

The good news is that the Orange’s 2-3 zone defense has been pretty good this year, especially with Frank Howard back. The Orange have won three straight with him back in the fold and boast a win over then No. 16 Ohio State as well. The Orange defense has only allowed 62.9 points per game this season. So I expect the Huskies won’t reach 70 points in this one.

To really feel confident about this team going forward, the Orange will need to find some kind of consistency on offense. Some games they’re great like they were at Ohio State and other times they put up a dud and only two scorers power the Orange to a win: case in in point- Cornell. If the Orange want to be ready for ACC conference play, they have to start looking like it now. Hopefully a matchup versus Northeastern is just what the doctor ordered.

The Huskies have gone through multiple injuries throughout the year, according to Syracuse.com, which leaves them very banged up and depleted heading into the Carrier Dome. The Orange should take advantage of that and use this game as a warm up to practice our offense. If it makes you feel any better, the Orange are favored by 11 points in this one and ESPN.com’s matchup predictor gives Syracuse 82.6% odds to come away the winner.
