Syracuse Football: Predictions for season finale vs Boston College
Paul A. Esden Jr. (9-2)
Prediction: Syracuse wins 31-30
I can’t believe we’re already at season’s end. What an unbelievable run it has been for this Orange squad, but it’s not over yet.
This season Syracuse has been checking things off the proverbial bucket list all year: bowl drought is over, most wins since 2012, ranked in the top 25 for first time since 2001, and more.
But there’s another demon to conquer: Boston College. Does anyone remember the 2017 finale? The Eagles blew out the Orange 42-14 and sent Syracuse on a five game losing streak to end their season.
Now it’s time to return the favor, although I’m not predicting a blowout either way in this one. Boston College is an uber talented team that is chock full of NFL talent and we all know how good Syracuse is.
The matchup of the game will likely be decided as my colleagues have suggested AJ Dillon vs this Syracuse run defense. For the Orange the run defense has been Swiss cheese and opponents have taken advantage of it.
I disagree that there’s little difference between the two quarterbacks for Syracuse, if Eric Dungey is unable to go, the Orange are at a big disadvantage. The silver lining is Tommy DeVito will have a full week of preparation if he’s the guy and he hasn’t had that all year. Give me the Orange in a tight game to get to nine wins in 2018 with one more to go in bowl season.
