Prediction: Boston College wins 31-28

The Syracuse football outfit wraps up its 2018 regular season this Saturday afternoon, when the Orange travels to Boston College in a juicy Atlantic Coast Conference clash. SU (8-3, 5-2), currently slotted at No. 19 in the most-recent AP top-25 poll, did not have a stellar showing over the weekend, as No. 3 Notre Dame absolutely demolished the ‘Cuse, 36-3, at Yankee Stadium. The Eagles (7-4, 4-3), meanwhile, dropped out of the AP rankings altogether after losing a heart-breaker this past Saturday at Florida State, 22-21.

Both of these teams would love to conclude the present stanza with a victory, as a conquest would also improve either SU’s or BC’s standing in the ACC. At this juncture, odds-makers in Las Vegas are anointing the Eagles a seven-point favorite, which makes sense, given that this is a home duel for Boston College.

Over at ESPN.com, the Web site’s match-up predictor says that the Eagles possess a nearly 62 percent chance of prevailing. While Syracuse scores more points per contest than BC, the Orange also allows more points on defense, and I think this affair will prove extremely tight.

The key is whether senior quarterback Eric Dungey, who got injured in the battle with the Fighting Irish, is able to suit up versus the Eagles. Unfortunately, I don’t have a good feeling about this contest, and I’m going with Boston College in a close 31-28 outcome.
