Syracuse Football Vs. Notre Dame- Gametime, TV & Radio Info
By Josh Peelman
Syracuse Football takes on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this Saturday in Yankee Stadium in the game of the week for College Football. Inside The Loud House tells you where you can watch and listen to the game.
Syracuse Football takes on No. 3 Ranked Notre Dame this weekend in what may be the most anticipated matchup of the weekend. The Orange come in with an outstanding 8-2 record, a #12 overall national ranking and big-name bowl bid on the line, according to ESPN.com.
The Fighting Irish meanwhile look to remain unblemished, arriving at Yankee Stadium with a 10-0 record. That will be put to the test this weekend against an Orange team that wants one thing above all else: Respect.
The Orange have struggled ever since Paul Pasqualoni was fired over 15 years ago. The Orange had a glimmer of hope under Doug Marrone and Ryan Nassib’s leadership a few years ago as the Orange made two bowl games in that period of time, but that was short lived. Now after three straight 4-8 seasons the Orange have eight victories and two losses by only 11 points combined.
The Orange will be hoping to pull the upset in a game which they feel they deserve to win considering all that has happened in years past. For this Syracuse Football team, this game feels special and well-earned. They know this is their chance to show the Syracuse faithful and the nation just who we really are: a competitive team, and no longer a doormat. Orange fans must truly believe that as they have sold out their allotment of tickets for the matchup this Saturday, according to Syracuse.com.
By no means is this going to be an easy victory to achieve for the Orange. Notre Dame has a stout defense which ranks among one of the best in the nation. They also have a tremendously talented running back in Dexter Williams who averages 6.8 yards per carry. He has 113 touches this season, which he has rushed for 770 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Orange have struggled this year stopping the run, so if they can’t stop Williams it could be a long afternoon.
The Orange come in though with one of the nations best and experienced quarterbacks in Senior Eric Dungey. A threat with both his legs and his arm, he can a difference maker in this game even if the Orange’s defense doesn’t hold up to their end of the bargain.
To give you an idea, Eric Dungey played a heck of a game in 2016 versus Notre Dame at MetLife Stadium. He threw for 365 yards, two passing touchdowns, and no interceptions which he then coupled with 49 yards on the ground and three more touchdowns, according to Sports-Reference.com.
The Orange scored 33 in that contest, but the Irish unfortunately scored 50 because the Orange couldn’t play defense and made a lot of stupid errors. The Orange will be hoping for more of the same from Dungey on Saturday and less of the defense that led to that loss two years ago.
Syracuse currently is projected to lose by around 10.5 points and has a 25.1% chance of winning against Notre Dame weekend, according to ESPN.com. However, if anything can be said about the Orange this year, its that they have been able to do the unthinkable. Plus Syracuse Football has history on their side as they are 7-1 overall in Yankee Stadium, and 2-0 in the New Yankee Stadium, per Cuse.com.
Let review though, shall we? The Orange won an ACC road game for the first time in awhile. Check. They beat a Top 25 team in NC State. Check. The Syracuse Football team went UNDEFEATED (6-0) at Home in the Carrier Dome. Check. They came so close to beating #2 Clemson, an all-but-lock for the College Football Playoff, at their place. Check. On top of everything else, the Orange are ranked among the Top 15 teams in the nation going into this matchup with the Fighting Irish.
