Andrew Carey (2-0)

Prediction: Orange win 84-74

The UConn game is going to be the first real test for Syracuse all season long. UConn has a good backcourt in Jalen Adams and Alterique Gilbert. Adams is a good shooter, while Gilbert is a good playmaking guard who can penetrate in the lane and cause problems for the Syracuse zone.

On the offensive side of the ball for Syracuse, Tyus Battle and Oshae Brissett need to continue to be the go too guys, but in a more efficient way. Battle is off to a cold start from the field this season, I’m looking at him to come out and play good efficient basketball. Elijah Hughes and Jalen Carey need to continue to look for theirs. I would love to see Carey get the start at Point Guard rather than playing Tyus at the point and Buddy at shooting guard. Carey at the point will allow for a true point guard playmaker on the floor, while Tyus Battle can comfortably move back to his shooting guard role.

One thing I would like to see more of is Marek Dolezaj. He’s coming off the bench to start the season, while Elijah Hughes’s been getting the starts in his place. Dolezaj has yet to have a big game, look for him to do so against the Huskies in Madison Square Garden. Whenever these two teams meet you know its going to be a close game, but the Orange pull away late and win 84-74.
