Prediction: Syracuse wins 77-55

The Syracuse basketball squad, currently ranked No. 16 in the AP top-25 poll, is gearing up for its second clash of the 2018-19 season, when the Orange hosts Morehead State as part of the 2K Classic this Saturday night from the Carrier Dome.

SU (1-0) got the current stanza off on the right foot when the ‘Cuse throttled Eastern Washington by a count of 66-34 on the Hill. The Eagles (1-0), meanwhile, also notched a stanza-opening home win, cruising past Kentucky Christian, 102-82, with four players reaching double-figures in scoring. Morehead State wrapped up 2017-18 with a record of 8-21, but the Eagles return all five starters from that campaign and should fare better in the present term.

Clearly, Morehead State can generate a ton of points, although I don’t foresee the Eagles eclipsing the century mark versus Syracuse’s suffocating 2-3 zone. In perusing around online a bit, I came to determine that SU and Morehead State have met twice previously, with our beloved boys succeeding in both encounters. ESPN.com’s match-up predictor says that the ‘Cuse has roughly a 95 percent chance of emerging victorious.

I sincerely hope that our offense performs better than it did versus Eastern Washington, and I think it will. The Orange handles Morehead State with relative ease, 77-55.
