PredictionSyracuse wins 80-62

This is going to be an interesting opening game for the Orange. Syracuse is extremely thin at the guard position at the moment, especially point guard. Jalen Carey and Howard Washington are both questionable heading into the contest with Frank Howard doubtful.

It is worth noting that Boeheim said he didn’t think Jalen Carey would play until the UConn game in two weeks. The three point guards on the roster are in jeopardy of missing the first game, and Tyus Battle did not look like his old self running the point in the exhibition games.

As a result, this game could be an interesting one, where Syracuse struggles to find their offense. In their two scrimmages, the offense looked stagnant at times, but put up points due to their athleticism and size advantage on their opponents. Eastern Washington is likely a step up in athleticism and size, but its not on par with Syracuse. The Orange ultimately will win this game regardless of the health of their point guards, but it could be an interesting one.

Look for Elijah Hughes and Oshae Brissett to come out and set the tone early on offense, and the 2-3 zone should handle business on the defensive end of the floor. Syracuse fans should be happy to see Hughes, Buddy Boeheim, and Robert Braswell make their Dome debuts in regular season contests. Orange win 80-62.
