Former Syracuse basketball star Dajuan Coleman is making his hoops comeback official. Coleman has signed on with the Syracuse Stallions ABA franchise.

Syracuse basketball fans can rejoice because Dajuan Coleman is returning to the salt city to play hoops. No it isn’t for the Syracuse Orange, it’s for the ABA franchise the Syracuse Stallions.

Over the last several years there’s been multiple attempts to revitalize an ABA franchise in Syracuse, but to no avail. Now the Stallions are hoping to change the narrative.

One way they’re hoping to do that is by adding some real star power to this team and they did that by signing DC to a contract. Few realize that Coleman is only 25 years old and still has a ton of tread left on the tires.

DC was actually with the Orange from 2012-17 and didn’t quite live up to the billing. Coleman was a McDonald’s All-American and he was destined to be a special NBA talent, but his knees had other plans. Those chronic knee injuries derailed what could’ve been a prominent career in Orange. Now he’s making a comeback under his own terms.

Coleman is looking for another opportunity and he has earned it by impressing the Stallions’ brass. Here’s what Team President Mike Sugamosto had to say about adding a special talent in Coleman in an exclusive statement to Inside the Loud House:

"“Dajuan brings us a huge interior presence whether it is rebounding or finishing around the basket. At tryouts, Dajuan showed a much improved ability to create midrange jump shots. He is in excellent shape and has shown great mobility, which tells us he has dedicated the time to improve his health. We are very excited to have Dajuan join us. For those who haven’t had the chance to watch him in the past, attending Stallions games gives fans an opportunity to see the dominant big man up close”"

This is a unique opportunity for DC to rebuild his brand, get back to the fundamentals, and ultimately prove that he can still be the player we all thought he was coming out of high school.

Probably the most intriguing nugget from that statement from Team President Mike Sugamosto is the development of a mid-range game from Coleman. Perhaps an old dog has learned a new trick that could take his game to the next level.

Some more information on the Syracuse Stallions upcoming inaugural season was provided by Stephen Bailey of Syracuse.com:

"“The ABA’s 2018-19 season is slated to run from October to April. The Stallions will compete in the NBA’s Northeast Division, along with the Binghamton Bulldogs, Jersey Express, Roc City Ravens, NYC Lightning, Bronx Holy Flames, Elmira Eagles, Atlantic Coast Cardinals, Worcester 78’s, Springfield Sting and New England Outtatowners.”"

This is not the first attempt to bring professional basketball to the salt city, but Team President Mike Sugamosto feels confident that this time will be different, he gave this exclusive statement to Inside the Loud House on this upcoming season:

"“We are very excited to see all of our planning and hard work come together. As we inch closer and closer to October 28th, our management staff, coaching staff, and players grow even more excited. Central New York is such a talent rich area when it comes to basketball and going into this, we were confident that we would be able to build not only a successful team, but a diverse fan base that focuses on the involvement of our community.”“After several tryouts and evaluating hundreds of players, we have built a team with a ton of depth, athleticism, and experience playing at a high level. Our players have played at all different levels including Division I, II, and III.”"

"“The gameplay rules of the ABA create a very fast-paced and exciting event for all different ages of basketball fans. It will create an action packed environment full of loud, cheering fans. Our plan is to involve the young athletes from our area with the rollout of our Junior Stallions program which allows children to meet our players, be coached at camps and clinics by the pros, and even eat pre-game meals with our guys.”"

Individual tickets and season passes are all available right now at SyracuseStallions.com. Or for the youngsters you can join the Junior Stallions, which is a youth basketball club for ages 5-16. A pretty unique and cool opportunity that you can learn more about here.
