Which former Syracuse Basketball star has best chance at NBA stardom?

WESLEY JOHNSON. 2010. . G/F. Los Angeles Clippers

I think Wesley Johnson is still floating around on the side of milk cartons after what James Harden did to him earlier this season. In case you missed it, on March 1st, 2018 Johnson’s ankles were destroyed and it’s quite possible that Wesley is still floating somewhere in the stratosphere.

In all seriousness the question on people’s minds is Wesley a bust? I mean he was the No. 4 overall pick and he’s still in the league after eight seasons, that’s a plus. But that doesn’t seem like a fair barometer to justify.

Although when you look at the next picks after him in the 2010 NBA Draft, it makes you do a discount double check:

  • No. 5 DeMarcus Cousins
  • No. 9 Gordon Hayward
  • No. 10 Paul George
  • No. 18 Eric Bledsoe
  • No. 19 Avery Bradley
  • No. 33 Hassan Whiteside

Uhm yikes. It’s not as if Johnson has been so bad, it’s just everyone else has been so good. Johnson at 30 years old is now on the downside of his career, so no future stardom is coming, but he’s making over $6 million a year, not too shabby.
