It’s official the Syracuse Basketball 2018-19 ACC details have been released. Here’s what stands out on the ACC basketball slate for the Orange!

Thank the lord finally the Syracuse basketball conference details have been released! Although dates and times will be revealed at a later date, this will give fans an idea of the big games to catch at home, and what quality wins can be picked up on the road.

Syracuse Basketball 2018-19 ACC Matchups:

"Home/Away: Boston College, Clemson, Duke, PittsburghHome: Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, VirginiaAway: North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest"

Of course the one thing that stands out to the Orange faithful is a home & home with the Duke Blue Devils. Cuse played Duke twice this season thanks to a Sweet 16 run, but this is the first time the two teams will play a home & home series since the 2014-15 season when the Orange (sigh) dropped both to Duke.

However, this isn’t the only team that Syracuse will face off against, so let’s look at some hot takes with the rest:

Syracuse will win 5 games against the other home & home series opponents.

This list includes Boston College, Clemson, and Pitt. Pitt SHOULD BE two easy wins. However, in the ACC, anything can happen, which is why the games must be played in the 1st place.

Between BC and Clemson, the Orange should win 3 games.  Both teams bring back a lot of talent, but Syracuse does as well, and the Orange have a brighter outlook.  Nonetheless, there aren’t many complaints with the home & home opponents for Cuse.

The Dome will pack 30,000 plus for multiple games this season.

Okay, let’s be real, if we could have it our way, this would happen every game.  Unfortunately, not

every team draws as much as the next.  However, there could very well be at least 3 ACC games of 30,000 plus at the Dome next season.

Duke is a given, and here’s hoping it can break the attendance record set by none other than Syracuse in 2014.  This leads us to Syracuse’s home schedule, which includes Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, and Virginia.

I for one am very much in favor of this scheduling.  With games against a struggling Georgia Tech team and rebuilding Miami team, Syracuse should get two wins.  Florida State will be middle of the pack, but could prove as a quality win come March.

This leads us to the two big home games for the Orange.

The Cards always play the Orange tough, and with Chris Mack now at the helm, I expect to see an improved Louisville team.  Only time will tell, as the Cards will experience growing pains.  But as of now, this is an exciting match up.

As for Virginia, well I think we all know about what happened there (cue 2016 NCAA Tournament run).  Actually, Virginia handed it to us (twice) last season, but that won’t be the same.  In fact, this could very well be a match up between Top-15 teams.

Finally, Syracuse will have many chances for quality road wins.

The away schedule for the Orange will feature UNC, NC State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

Wake is the lone ‘easy’ opponent here, as Notre Dame and NC State both should challenge the Orange.

The real thing to look at here are road games against UNC and Virginia Tech.  Both teams should be ranked in the Top 25 or higher when Syracuse comes to town, giving the Orange multiple chances at impressive wins.

This schedule favors the Orange.  The home & home with Duke highlights the scheduling, while Pitt and BC are great as well, given their history with Syracuse.  The home schedule feature Louisville and Virginia, which should draw well at the Dome.

Finally, away games against UNC and Virginia Tech will be very interesting. It’s only April 10th, but the 2018-19 basketball season can’t come soon enough.
