Oshae Brissett: Syracuse Orange

Some know Oshae Brissett as Syracuse’s 6-foot-8 forward who rebounds like he’s over 7 feet tall. Others know Brissett from his nasty jam over Miami forward Ebuka Izundu during Syracuse’s 62-55 February win over the Hurricanes.

Regardless of how you found out about Brissett, it is important that you know who he is, and that you don’t forget his name. The Mississauga, ON native’s averages of 15 points and nine rebounds is far better than most expected before the 2017-18 season began.

After winning their first ACC-matchup against Virginia Tech on New Year’s Eve, Syracuse lost four-straight games to Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Virginia, and Florida State. At this point, most believed that the Orange had no chance of making the NCAA Tournament.

Two months later, led by Brissett, the Orange is the 68th team in the Big Dance, and are ready to shock the world, much like they did in 2016. Brissett’s 12 double-doubles and his notable defense resulted in him making the All-ACC Rookie Team.

While the Orange have a tough NCAA Tournament schedule ahead of them, Brissett and company are ready for the challenge and believe they can compete with any team in the country.
