Syracuse Basketball: Orange Bubble Watch- 2/20
By Josh Peelman
Record vs. RPI Top 50: 1-2
Bad Losses: Utah State, Wyoming
Road W-L: 5-4
Analysis: The Broncos have played well as their overall record shows, but they lack the season-defining win. Loyola-Chicago may not be enough with an RPI of 44. They may need to win all three remaining games, plus win two or three extra in their conference tournament to feel safer about being in, but even then it’s a toss up.
In According to Bracket Matrix (Y/N): No, among they’re among the other receiving votes.
Are they in currently? (my opinion): No, I feel like they need a big win in their conference tournament or to win it all to feel comfortable about getting a bid.
Record vs. RPI Top 50: 4-3
Bad Losses: Oregon State, Stanford
Road W-L: 4-4
Analysis: Washington’s resume is actually pretty good. They have huge wins over Arizona and Kansas, and they took care of business this weekend against Colorado. However, they did lose to fellow (outside) bubble team Utah earlier in the week which hurt. They are squarely on the bubble like Syracuse. I think if they win against all four teams down the stretch they’ll be in. Lose one of those, unless its Oregon (maybe), and they won’t make the tournament.
In According to Bracket Matrix (Y/N): No they’re among the first four out.
Are they in currently? (my opinion): No, I think Washington is out currently, and are on thin ice. They, like Syracuse and USC need to avoid bad losses down the stretch. One or two more quality wins for any of those teams in a conference tournament wouldn’t hurt either. I see them among the first four out right now.
