Syracuse Basketball: Orange Bubble Watch- 2/20
By Josh Peelman
Record vs. RPI Top 50: 1-6
Bad Losses: Princeton, Stanford
Road W-L: 4-5
Analysis: The Trojans struggled out of the gate to put Oregon State away on Saturday. Luckily, they had a good second half and avoided a costly loss. Lose that game and they wouldn’t have probably moved to the next four out category. The Trojans really need to beat UCLA and Utah down the stretch to truly feel comfortable about being in before they enter the Pac-12 Tournament.
In According to Bracket Matrix (Y/N): No, they’re among the first four out.
Are they in currently? (my opinion): No, they’re a bubble or quality team win away from sneaking in. Much like Syracuse they are squarely on the bubble.
Record vs. RPI Top 50: 6-9
Bad Losses: Oklahoma State
Road W-L: 4-5
Analysis: Texas was added to this bubble list because they’ve become too good to ignore. Yes, their record sucks, but their losses makes sense, and their wins are incredible. They just beat Oklahoma for the second time this year but also can pair that with TCU, Alabama, Texas Tech, and Butler. This team has a legitimate shot at stealing a bid in couple weeks barring a stupid loss.
In According to Bracket Matrix (Y/N): Yes, they’re in as an 11 seed.
Are they in currently? (my opinion): Yes, as long as they can split their remaining four games. That would mean they have to beat Oklahoma State and fellow bubble team Kansas State or find a way to beat Kansas and West Virginia which is less likely, but still possible.
