Alexis Peterson

When you have a dream season to remember, it is incredibly difficult to top your performance from the previous season. in 2016, Alexis Peterson led the Syracuse Orange to the National Championship game. This was a historic run that had never been achieved in the history of Syracuse Orange Women’s Basketball. Any player who could be such a leader could have very easily rested on their accomplishments and been more than content.

But Peterson came back her senior season and had a year for the record books. Peterson was named the ACC player of the year, and became an All-American. She set single season program records for scoring and assists, while being an exemplary role model for the University. Peterson went on to be drafted #15 overall in the WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm.

"“We were surprised but excited that she was there. She’s a true point guard, and that’s what we were looking for,” Valavanis said Thursday night. “But we also like that she can shoot the ball. We feel there’s a good synergy there, a good fit. It’s a really unique opportunity for Alexis to come in and work under Sue.” -Alisha Valvanis, GM of the Seattle Storm"
