Syracuse Football: The Carrier Dome is Still The Loud House
By Josh Peelman
Syracuse football has a heck of a home field advantage in the Carrier Dome. ITLH explains why this still holds true, despite a mediocre team lately.
The Syracuse Football team has done poorly over the last decade. In the process they lost their fans in the stands. As a result, the Loud House as it is affectionately called, hasn’t been as loud of late.
I’m here to tell you though, that is not always the case though. Despite being very mediocre the loyal fans still show up to games and support their team when they need it most and that’s why the Carrier Dome is still the Loud House.
Syracuse Football had their worst loss in awhile to Middle Tennessee two weeks ago at home. In that game, the Orange had their lowest attendance of the season at 29,721, according to Syracuse.com. As a result, Syracuse football fans realized they needed to get their butts back in the seats and support their team. They responded to the tune of over 33,000 fans against Central Michigan.
Now, that’s still not the attendance numbers Syracuse Football team should be getting, but it’s a start. Even with 33,000 the Loud House can make some noise. Heck I was there to witness itself.

In the first half of the game against Central Michigan, the Chippewas were scoring pretty easily with long passes to their wide receivers. It was looking like another losing effort. Then the crowd awoke, which was actually still large because it was early in the contest (before the blowout by Syracuse).
The CMU quarterback had trouble hearing his teammates. He tried calling an audible and the running back next to him couldn’t even hear him. The Dome was getting louder and louder and the Central Michigan line seemed very nervous about the play. It was so loud, the guy next to my Dad and I was holding his fingers in his ears. It was a pretty fun sight to see. He had the most sour look on his face. I just shook my head. THIS IS THE FREAKIN LOUD HOUSE BABY!!!!! GET THE HECK OVER IT!
I didn’t say any of that of course, but I thought it. I thought to myself, this is what the Carrier Dome should have sounded like the last couple years. I’ve gone to at least one Syracuse Football game every year just about since I was little, and I can tell you it hadn’t been that loud in awhile.
As a result, the Chippewas took a timeout. Following the timeout though the fans picked up right where they left off. Consequently, you would have saw me screaming with my hand over my mouth as loud as I could, and my Dad was yelling next to me. It was a crazy sight to see. This is what College Football should be like in Syracuse, New York. The guy next to us did the same thing as before, but we didn’t care. The Loud House is the Loud House.

Central Michigan snapped the ball, and would you believe it: TURNOVER BABY!!!!!!!!!! To those that saw the game you’ll remember that early in the game the CMU quarterback Shane Morris passed the ball on a slant route that was bobbled and intercepted. That ball was returned by Evan Foster of Syracuse for a touchdown. That was this play.
The crowd roared in excitement as the Orange scored a pick-six because the Orange rarely score on defense so it was a sight to see. It also proved you don’t need numbers to make the Loud House Loud again. All you need are the fans that support your ball club the most, through thick and thin. if those fans keep coming, then the Loud House will always remain loud when it needs to be.
