The gag reflex is still active looking back at the tape for SU’s Week 2 loss to Middle Tennessee State. I hope the same is true for the Syracuse football team. If Dino Babers and company needed bulletin board material, they got it.
We’ve said it all week in the lead-up, it doesn’t get any easier for the Orange. It starts this Saturday against the Chippewas who bring in a prolific passing attack that ranks as a top-15 unit in college football. While level of competition should certainly be considered, the Orange have no room to talk.
This is a put up or shut up game for Babers. How he responds to this game will tell me everything I need to know for the rest of the season. I think this is a high-scoring affair with the Orange pulling it out. They can’t lose back-to-back home games, or I fear the reaction from the media and fan base. Orange win 58-35.

I have to admit, losing to Middle Tennessee State at home kind of surprised me. So, with that as
More from Inside the Loud House
- Syracuse Football: Cuse boils Purdue, turns attention to Army on Saturday
- Syracuse football only team in country with top-5 scoring offense, defense
- Syracuse Basketball: 4-star Elijah Moore not in top 100, and I don’t get that
- Syracuse basketball 4-star west-coast recruit, in new rankings, into top 20
- Syracuse basketball is hitting D.C. market hard in pursuit of 4-stars, 5-stars
some unfortunate context, I can’t honestly pick SU to coast past Central Michigan when the Orange hosts the Chippewas this Saturday from the Carrier Dome.
Central Michigan has a fairly potent offense, generating 45 points its last time out against Kansas (although the Jayhawks aren’t a super duper squad in football). However, I find it hard to believe that the ‘Cuse will drop two home contests in a row, so I’m going with Syracuse in this one, 38-31. Let’s get back on the right track, SU!

Syracuse bounces back from last weeks game with bad intentions. The Orange take control of the game early thanks to Eric Dungey, Erv Philips, and of course Steve Ishmael. Syracuse looks like they will roll in this one but Central Michigan eventually makes it a close game. Dungey leads a big TD drive to ice it and Syracuse wins 42-24.

Missed it by that much…ok ok it’s time to move on. Before the prediction I need to know what the heck is a Chippewas??? But I digress, this writer predicted a 3-0 start to the season for the seasoned Orange squad, that dream is squashed and the OITNF will have to focus on the team from Central Michigan who are first place in the MAC West conference.
They are also an enigma as Rhode Island took them to the limit with a triple overtime thriller, they followed that up by soundly beating Kansas. Led by Michigan transfer Shane Morris who threw for 467 yards and 5 touchdowns against the Jayhawks. They have some some firepower to test the Orange.
My prediction is an Orange win! Final score 56-42 with Eric Dungey getting his Heisman campaign back on track.

Personally I think the Orange struggle once again. I don’t think they’ll look lost like last week or struggle as badly on offense, but I think the Orange will struggle against the CMU offense. The Chippewas scored 45 points last week at Kansas! So the Orange are going to have to step it up.
They need this victory to get back on the right path before a hard matchup with LSU. They can’t be looking ahead. I think Syracuse Football pulls it out in another tight one, 30-27, led by the heroics of Eric Dungey’s legs. Sorry Ishmael, you lost my faith last week, gotta earn it back man.
