A Center standing at 6’11, he blocked an average of 2.77 shots per game for his career. He was a physical presence down low on defense for the Orange as well as a tremendous offensive threat. As a freshman, he was a second-team freshman All-American.

Throughout his career, he would be known as a great rebounder and averaged over eight boards a game. In addition, he would score around 10 points a game his first two years at Syracuse before bumping those numbers to almost 16 points a game in his junior and senior seasons.

In his last season, which was coincidentally the Big East’s first, he was 1st team All-Big East. He would also receive All-American honors.

Roosevelt Bouie is among the best Syracuse Basketball players to ever play the game. Syracuse honored his career by retiring his #50 uniform along with Louis Orr’s in 2015. He sits 18th all-time on the Syracuse University scoring list and 7th on their all-time rebounding list. Though those statistics are impressive, what Bouie and Louis brought to Orange fans would energize the Orange fanbase for years to come. It would give future Orange players greatness to strive towards and give fans faith that Jim Boeheim was the right man for the job.

With Louis and Bouie being among his first recruits, it’s just another testament to how amazing of a coaching career Boeheim has really had, and also shows the kinds of incredible talent he has been able to bring in as well.
