One of the most influencial sports families in the business no one is talking about. Lets start off with former UFC World Champion, Jon Jones.

This UFC story-line is going to be a little outside the normal box for “Inside the Loud House”.

This will be a four part series discussing the Jones family from Endicott, New York.  I am sure that Pastor Arthur Jones had no idea when they were sitting around the Sunday dinner table that all three of his sons would end up being World Champions but that is what happened.

We will break down his sons in the coming weeks, two of which laced up their cleats for the Syracuse Orange.

But first let me share with you how an article that I write evolves.

Let me first say that I am by far the least talented of any of the writers on our staff.  From my son who is the leader of the Loud House to Zack, Josh, Neil  and the rest of our staff their skill, insights and passion for all sports far exceed mine. While I do enjoy discussing Syracuse Football and alumni with you and I hope you enjoy my unique spin on things.

But I digress… So for me writing an article is like a plant growing.  It starts with an idea (the seed) and slowly (very slowly) it grows as I continue to think about it and do research or see events that inspire me until I sit down at my desk and crank it out.  I tell you this because this particular article was planted in my head over six months ago and I finally had some Miracle Grow spread on it last night (in the form of trash talking spewed from the mouth of Daniel Cormier the Light Heavyweight Champion of the UFC).

This article is the precursor to Part Two which will break down the career of Jon “Bones” Jones.

I sat down and watched UFC 210 on Saturday night with the Main Event being Daniel “The Doughboy” Cormier (I am not sure if he actually has a nickname but this one seems appropriate) versus Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.

A quick but important flashback to the weigh-in the day before.  Doughboy comes out for the required weigh-in before the fight and is over the weight limit.  By the New York State athletic

commission he is allowed to weigh in again.  Now this wasn’t your normal go sit in the sauna for an hour and a half or hit the tread mill while wearing a rubber suit. Doughboy literally left the podium and came back two minutes later with two extra guys with a towel.

As he stepped on the scale his new found friends stretched the towels tightly while Daniel the Doughboy pushed down on the towels.  Miraculously Mr. Cormier had lost 1.2 pounds in 2 minutes.  So before the Atkins freaks in the audience blow up his Twitter to find out the secret (if you extrapolate his magic you could lose 36 pounds in an hour) I have a brief lesson in Newton’s applied law of gravity.

By pushing down on the towels he transferred his weight to the towel and therefore lessened the amount that showed on the scale.  Flashback to the fight Rumble made the poor choice to fight Cormier’s game and grappled with him for the duration of the fight which resulted in Daniel retaining his title by submitting Anthony with a rear naked choke.

Daniel “Doughboy” after the fight decided to talk trash about Jon “Bones” Jones and disrespected him.  Currently Jon is under an unwarranted one year suspension, so this taunting was the equivalent of poking a caged bear.

Now here is a brief history of the feud between these two, they fought at UFC 182 with Jones dominating the fight winning 4 out of 5 rounds in the unanimous decision.  Following that there have been a few missteps by the greatest pound for pound fighter in UFC history (which will be discussed in Part 2 of this series).

So anyone that knows me would tell you that I am not against trash talking. I have a cardinal rule that when you trash talk you must be able to back it up.  The media blitz leading up to UFC 182 was filled with mini-altercations and trash talking and the fight itself was one of the best I have ever seen; but in the end Cormier had his butt handed to him, yet isn’t smart enough to keep his trap shut now.

I look forward to the next time that these two meet. While I hope that Jon shuts up that gap toothed Michael Strahan looking fool for good.  Until then I would offer this advice to him: ‘Don’t let your mouth write a check that your ass can’t cash’.  Drop the mic.

See you for Part 2.
