The Syracuse basketball team put it all out on the line, but no thanks to the so called “fans of the Orange”. You should show up for your team through thick and thin.

Calm down, calm down don’t get all riled up but this is a legit question.  As first posed to you in my previous article ‘What happens next?’; I suggested that the days of the Carrier Dome being packed to the rafters may be coming to a close.  I hate to say I told you so but, I told you so.

Wednesday’s National Invitation Tournament attendance, although no records are kept for lowest numbers, may be a record low with just over four thousand.  I hear you in your sniveling voice but,but it was cold outside and it was snowing.

Wake up you live in Central New York that has the highest average snowfall in the country with three of the top four cities (Buffalo, Syracuse and Rochester).  They postponed the game a day for you so scratch snow off your excuse list.

Could it be after all the crying when we didn’t get in the dance (which was a load of horse crap, screw you NCAA) and there was a lot of it on social media. I guess the die hard fans did not believe it was worth the effort to go support our team.

I know I know school is on spring break.  News flash those aren’t the bodies filling those Orange cushioned seats which were empty the other night.

Imagine if you were a Northwestern fan that had to wait 77 years to go to the dance.  I hope that puts into perspective how spoiled we may be.  Again I will reference for you that in the past 40 years while Northwestern could not spell 64 we went to the dance 32 TIMES!

The Orange who should or should not be in the tournament are still the number one seed in the

NIT and were projected to win the whole thing before losing yesterday to Ole Miss.

I applaud the University and the fans who did attend and got the deal of a lifetime paying 25 bucks for court-side seats.  At that price I almost booked a flight from Mississippi so that I could pay homage to our hard working team.

So when the snow plows have come and the weather is better on Saturday it and we counted heads the numbers for our second round game maybe ten thousand (that maybe counting a few people twice and rounding up a little). The attendance number reported by Cuse.com was over 9,500.

I would say this is a scene we better get used too and one that, “the Orange is the New Fast” is quite used too… a whole lot of empty seats.  Frankly they deserve better.
