So much for being the #1 receiver in this offense. Syracuse football fans have had high expectations of Steve Ishmael for years now, but he just keeps disappointing. Ishmael is now being out-caught by Ervin Phillips, Amba Etta-Tawo and Brisly Estime.

So what has he done this season? Well he has 13 receptions for 131 yards this season, or about 10 yards per catch, which isn’t bad. However, when a running back and two other wide receivers are out-catching you, that’s a problem. Especially when you were the leading receiver the year before by a good margin over those same players. He has to play better, plain and simple.

As a junior now the younger athletes look up to him. He has experience and he needs to show he is putting it to good use. This week he did not show up, catching only three passes for 30 yards. This consistent drop in production leads us to drop him one spot in our rankings. His talent alone can put him in our Top 5, but he needs to show us results first.
