Syracuse Football Player Rankings (Week 3)
By Josh Peelman
Ervin Phillips probably would have been in the top spot the last two weeks if not for the incredible play of Amba Etta-Tawo. Coming off a record-tying catch performance (14) versus Colgate he had 6 catches for 52 yards versus Louisville. That’s 20 catches for 139 yards in two games and 1 touchdown.
Versus USF, he had another 10 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. He continues to be the go to receiver on the edges that the defense has to respect. He has become Syracuse’s second best pass-catcher outplaying both Brisly Estime and Steve Ishmael. In fact, he is third in the nation in receptions, just two ahead of fellow teammate Amba Etta Tawo, 30 to 28.
If he continues this pace and Etta-Tawo struggles you can expect him to take the top spot in these rankings. He is vital to our passing attack this year, especially in the short-passing game. For now his individual performance moves him up a spot to 2 and drops Eric Dungey to 3.
Next: 1. Amba Etta-Tawo
