Micheal Gbinije- 26 points, 9-11 FG, 6-8 3’s, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks

This was Gbinije’s best game so far this year. From start to finish, he looked completely in control of his game at all times. He also almost couldn’t miss from wherever he shot it. He shot an unbelievable 81% from the field, and 75% from 3. Obviously he’s not going to be able to do that every game, but for one night, he looked like a completely unstoppable force.

I can’t even imagine the stat line he would have had if he had played more minutes. Due to the comfortable lead Syracuse had, Gbinije was able to get some much needed rest in the both halves. That will be a huge factor down the stretch over the next couple days in keeping his legs fresh.

What impressed me most about Gbinije was his court vision. Several times down the court, he threw a monster 50-foot pass over the defense, finding a cutting Tyler Lydon for an easy layup. Several other times, he made great decisions with the ball to either take his man to the hoop or to drive and dish to an open teammate.

The bottom line is, Gbinije is a superstar. If you were uncertain what kind of year he would have, let this be a wake-up call for you. He is going to be outstanding, and is by far the most complete player on Syracuse right now. It’s possible he could finish the season averaging 20 points a game if he can keep playing with the calm, mature demeanor he has been of late.

I give Michael Gbinije an overall grade of A+. He did a bit of everything, but it was his gorgeous shooting stroke that really set him above everyone else.
